Tapasya Home is situated 15 km away from Virajpet. Surrounded by forest with a Valley adjoined by Coffee plants, where you are free to roam around and enjoy the nature and play by the natural stream. Totally different  experience apart from the boring city life.

Omkareshwara Temple

Dubbare Elephant Camp

This is accessed from the road connecting Madikeri and Kushalnaga, turn off 3 km from Kushal Nagar and  travel 10 km on deviation. The road in passes through scenic rice fields and coffee estates. The activities include boat rides, rafting in the cauvery river. Crossing the river will take you to the camp and is quite adventurous. This place is 45 kms from The Tapasya Home. Abbey Falls

Beautiful falls 8 km from Madikeri and 48 km from “Tapasya Home”.  Abbey means “falls” in Kannada. The falls are inside a coffee plantation. Abbey Falls is a breathtaking waterfall where the Kaveri river cascades down a rockface. A hanging bridge built across the gorge here offers a good view of the falls. Madikeri Fort

This fort was first built by Mudduraja in the last quarter of the 17th century. He also built a palace inside the fort. It was eventually rebuilt in granite by Tipu Sultan who named the site as Jaffarabad. In 1790, Doddavira Rajendra took control of the fort. The British who added to the fort in 1834. The palace was renovated by Lingarajendra Wodeyar II in 1812-1814. In the north-east corner at the entrance are two life size masonry elephants and a church is present in the south-east corner. Raja Seat

Legend says that the local rajas used to watch the sun set from here. There is a nice garden and a beautiful panoramic view to the valley. This place is in the middle of Madikeri. Mandalapatti

Is a viewpoint, which is located at a distance of about 35 km from Madikeri town. Tourists can reach the 600 metres high point through the coffee plantations. A perfect trucking Spot. This place is just 63 kms from Tapasya Home. Ask “Tapasya Home” for more information.

Kote Betta

Neela means blue, and Kurinji is what the flower is locally called. A total of 46 varieties are available in India. 

The hills of Mandalpatti and Kote Betta in Karnataka have turned purplish-blue these days. It’s the season of Neelakurinji, the flowers that bloom only once every 12 years, now in Kodagu or Coorg district. 

Chelavara Falls

Chelavara is a wide and milky waterfall in Kodagu district. Chelavara Falls is a serene waterfall created by a tributary of river Kaveri, with a 150 ft drop over a rock said to resemble the shape of a tortoise. Chelavara is located in Cheyyandane village, off Talakaveri-Virajapete road, State Highway 90. And its 21km from Tapasya Home.

 

Talacauvery

What to Expect?

Location

  • We are located 35 kms from Madikeri (HQ of Kodagu) towards the hills, on a hill side.
  • We are accessible by all kinds of vehicles.
  • We are nestled in a coffee estate near the forest, so what is expected from a hill station is entirely here, that includes a variety of birds, bugs, butterflies etc. After all we are occupying their territory! (Please carry along necessary repellants/creams as per your preference).

Terrain

  • The resort is designed such that we do not harm the nature, but be a part of it, hence our cottages are on an inclined terrain.
  • Shoes with good grip is recommended on this terrain for any activities.

Climate

  • When it rains, it pours from June to September. Please carry necessary rain-ware.
  • When it’s winter, it is pretty cold during November to February. Bring along your warm clothes.

Activities

  • Planning on trekking? Please carry your trekking gear (trekking shoes, jacket, cap, etc).
